Red Water Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and Beagles

We are a husband and wife living is Lolo, Montana who enjoy our dogs. We currently have 7 dogs: 6 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and 1 Beagle. We are not a traditional breeder as these dogs are part of the family and not kenneled or "Locked up". They have the run of about 5 acres plus another 75 to work on. Our Chessies are trained and tested in AKC and UKC Hunt tests as well as 'Hunted over' for fall/winter waterfowl. They are also shown in the AKC conformation ring.  We strive to breed to the standard and try to keep the breed true to it's original roots. Our Beagles are hunt/family/show quality 13" Beagles. Our current breeding program is adding the hunt lines back into the AKC show Beagle. We are hoping to get the best mix of that show Beagle with great hunt ability. 

Although we would like to home a pup with everybody that we talk to, we are selective with who can home one of our pups. With the Chessies, we want homes that will use them for their intended purpose (retrieving waterfowl), or potentially in the show arena with the right mix of work. We have learned over the years that a Chessie without a job can be destructive. Similar with the Beagles, they can be destructive when bored.

​If you are looking for a hunt quality Chessie to hunt over, these are your dogs.  Both parents are excellent retrievers and work in very extreme cold with no issues. We hunt western Montana down to Zero degrees. This is both rivers and slow moving wetlands.
